FWA award winning Flash website and physical installation to promote the John Lewis lighting range.
User could chose from 10 million tracks which would cause 100 lights in the house to turn on in time to the music, conveying the mood chosen.

Signal-Noise worked with pd3 on the global product launch site for Victorinox Tomo – a new pocket knife from Victorinox in collaboration with Abitax Design, Tokyo.

The knife is designed to be used for modern art cutting – intricate paper cutting and crafting – and so the approach to the site was to build it out of paper.

Victorinox teamed up with renowned paper artist Rob Ryan, who provided bespoke artwork for the Swiss company.

Alphabunting is an app for Facebook and Twitter that allows users to create their own Rob Ryan style messages by tweeting to #alphabunting.

All the user interface elements were cut out of paper, assembled and photographed, along with laser cut graphics used to illustrate each colour variant of the product.

Signal-Noise was approached by the music and lifestyle platform SBTV to redesign and develop an innovative and exciting media platform with a global reach. The platform showcases a vast amount of content including interviews, music videos, short films, reviews, and competitions. The challenge was to structure all this content in a way that was both accessible and which encouraged users to explore further.

Signal-Noise worked with CareerStructure.com, part of the TotalJobs group, on the design and build of an interactive online tool to allow recruiters, journalists and job seekers to filter Career Structure’s database of information on construction industry jobs.

Visitors to the site could build up a profile based on job type, region, sector and level of experience and then compare data such as salary level, bonus pay and benefit packages.

Signal-Noise was commissioned to create an engaging, interactive beginners’ guide to social networking on O2 mobiles.

The team developed a fun flash stand-alone application which took viewers through the basics of three social networking sites. Content included animated diagrams as well as screen shots explaining key functions. The application was loaded onto 15,000 USB wristbands and given away as part of an O2 promotion.

Daniel was the lead developer on this project.

Survivor Island was a recruitment microsite for Phones 4u. The brief was to bring to life a multiple choice screening process which allowed the company to identify, early-on who the best job applicants were.

Visitors to the site were presented with a scenario in which they had survived a plane crash with a group of colleagues. Their task was to lead them to safety. Users were presented with a number of animated scenarios and answered multiple choice questions about what they would’ve done to help everyone escape.

At the end of the experience, users were invited to submit their personal information and upload their CV. This data was then emailed and sent to an online spreadsheet.

Signal-Noise was in charge of Creative Direction, Art Directing and Working as well as producing the piece. Daniel was the lead developer on this project.

Signal-Noise was asked to create an online engagement and data capture feature called “Take kids out of the picture” for Out of Trouble, a Prison Reform Trust campaign which is working to reduce the number of children and young people who are imprisoned in the UK.

Visitors to the site are invited to do their bit to take the kid out of the picture. After entering their name and email address, they can remove a small piece of the child from the image. Out of Trouble are aiming for 5,000 sign-ups. You can support the campaign here.

While Technical Director at Signal-Noise, Daniel helped delivering two interactive experiences for the launch of the new Hermès flagship store in Geneva, Switzerland, November 2011, for Swiss based design agency Unit by Vickyh.

The event was held at the Musée D’Art et D’Histoire, Geneva, in two of it’s main exhibition halls.

The theme for the evening was the meeting of handcraft and technology. In the first room it was created an iPad application which invited guests to leave their hand print on the evening. When they placed their hand on the iPad a stylised animated sequence ‘scanned’ their hand and projected it as part of a composite Hermès logo on the end wall of the space.

For the second room, it was designed and built a six metre interactive monolith interwoven with “digital stitches” – arrays of infra-red sensors and LEDs, which allowed guests to create and control strips of light in the minimal, high-gloss surface. In turn users’ gestures also controlled large projections of iconic Hermès images projected in the space.

Signal-Noise was approached by the world’s largest online recruitment specialists The Network to design and build an interactive online tool to communicate the findings of a recent global survey on workforce mobility.

The tool allows international recruiters to access the results from the survey which asked 160,000 people across 66 different countries where and why they would move to work abroad. The ‘Global Talent Barometer’ gives access to valuable information such as occupation, level of education and experience, giving the recruiter insights and motivations of matching candidates.

As part of the project Signal-Noise created two animated videos to explain and talk about the Network and how the ‘Global Talent Barometer’ works.
